Chris Trewick Counsellor, MBACP (Accredited) Counselling in the Brighton and Hove Area
Welcome
You may have come to this place because you are experiencing some personal difficulties or relationship issues. You may be struggling with some major trauma. You may be experiencing a sense of vulnerability or anxiety. There may be significant life changes going on for you. You may be feeling confused, directionless or lacking in motivation. This could be a time to have someone listen with kindness and full attention.
My name is Chris Trewick and I have been a Person Centred Counsellor in Brighton for the past 14 years. I am an Accredited Counsellor with BACP. I am committed to providing counselling /psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
In Counselling (Psychotherapy) it is my intention to create a safe environment where issues that are troubling you can be explored. These experiences such as anxiety, depression or other difficult experiences can be helped by being in relation to a Person-Centred Counsellor. It is a time where you can be yourself and investigate what is happening for you in the present moment. Humanistic experiences such as existential living and bereavement issues can be mindfully and gently reflected on. This therapeutic relationship is confidential. Its core principles are authenticity, acceptance and empathy. I offer counselling in a person-centred way as it trusts the ability and intuition of the client to process and explore their experience, such as a relationship issue, and allows the natural urge to heal to take place.
Counselling/Psychotherapy can be a way to make contact in a safe, kind and empathic context. Where you can explore your experience with another human being that listens with an accepting and respectful attitude.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. I am offering on - line (via zoom) and telephone sessions exclusively. As an alternative where it is appropriate I now offer 'Walking and Talking' - which would be offered for counselling outside in an agreed setting.
As a counsellor I have worked with a wide range of issues and problems including:
Relationship issues Stress related problems Dependency and addiction Panic Attacks Anxiety and vulnerability Bereavement Depression Sexual problems Major life changes Trauma All forms of abuse Personal development Spiritual dilemma
My counselling (psychotherapy) practice is near the Queens Park area of Brighton. There are buses that run from North street and the Brighton railway station to this area. The Brighton General Hospital, Brighton Race Course and the 'Pepperpot' are in this vicinity.

Where you can find me Counselling in the Queens Park area, Brighton. Covering Hove and surrounding areas of Sussex. At this time I only offer on-line sessions.
Keeping it 'Simple' is something I find useful as I engage with my daily life whether I am walking, talking/listening to people or dealing with a difficult experience. Through my meditation practice I have found my mind can be energetic and discursive. It can have many thoughts and feel quite unsettling. Alternatively it can stay with one thought habitually in a kind of circular way also leaving me feeling tense.
Where as when I stay with one train of thought mindfully and in a light focussed way I generally feel more at ease and clear. Also if I stay with an embodied sensory experience I tend to feel a lighter state of mind - more at ease within my body. Hence when I go about my daily life I endeavour to do one thing at a time such as when I am walking just walking allowing myself to stay with the simple sensory experience as I move. Mindfulness can be reconnected with or developed while engaging in any ordinary task.
